James E. Carmichael
Jim Carmichael has been an attorney practicing law in St. Charles County since 1979. Born in Toledo, Iowa, he moved to Missouri to attend undergraduate studies at what is now Truman State University. There he received a B.A. degree with a major in political science and a minor in business. Jim moved to St. Louis in 1976 to attend law school at Washington University, earning a Juris Doctorate of Law in 1979.
Jim Carmichael started as a general practitioner having experience in a wide range of legal areas. For the last 20 years he has practiced law specifically in the areas of criminal defense and personal injury. In representing individuals charged with crimes Jim has tried numerous jury trials and handled thousands of cases including everything from murder, armed robbery, kidnapping and assault among others. In recent years due to the increased number of people on probation and the increasing complexity of driving while intoxicated laws, he has given special attention to those people charged with DWI or DUI and those whom the government is attempting to revoke their probation or parole. In the area of personal injury, Mr. Carmichael represents individuals who have been injured or the families of those who have had a relative killed by the negligent acts of another. He has tried numerous jury trials representing the plaintiffs in personal injury cases mainly in the areas of automobile crashes and premises liability.
Mr. Carmichael is highly regarded in the legal profession having been awarded an AV rating which is the highest rating awarded to attorneys by the prestigious firm of Martindale Hubbell. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, as President of the St. Charles County Bar Association and has received a service award from the Legal Services of Eastern Missouri. Mr. Carmichael joined the law firm of Niedner, Bodeux, Carmichael, Huff, Lenox and Pashos, LLP as a partner in 1997.
Jim lives in the City of St. Charles. He and his wife have three grown children. Jim was previously active in youth sports where he coached baseball and basketball. He and his wife are active in local charities and enjoy spending their time traveling and especially snow skiing.
